I know that is possible if I have them as dualview.

Yes it is possible to drag windows from one physical display to another.

Sorry, I don't know what "dualview" or "separate screens" are.

If you want to try to set this up please start a new thread with an appropriate title.

Cheers,

No, if they are separate X, you can't drag and drop, but using --no-remote should always work

@evo2:
Dual screen can be done using multiple way, the normal one is dual view, you have one X server across both screen. It can be done directly or using Xinerama (if you really want to use it). It is what xrandr will try to do by default. An other way is to have multiple separate X server, even running different user in each screen. As Linux is a true multiuser OS, it can be done, not in Windows (multiprocess, but single user). Those screen have no way to talk to each other. If Screen 1 try to run Firefox and Firefox is runnign on screen 0, it will fail, just as in the current thread. It is a design decision drawback. Firefox use a single instance architecture, windows are nothing more than a tab with a border, it run in the same Firefox mother progress. When the process try to add a windows in a different screen than the original one, it will get a connection refused error, and fail with "Firefox is not responding". --no-remote should fix the problem, but apparently it just bug in miros84 case.

was supposed to indicate that in the context of post #17, these terms were not defined. Perhaps I should have been more explicit.

Indeed, if wanting to use multiply physical displays for a single xsession, then xrandr is currently the way to go: unless you are using some closed driver that uses xinerama or some home cooked method.

On this topic, do you know if the terms "dualview" (or "dual view", I've also seen posts talking about "twin view") and "separate screens" defined somewhere in terms of xinerama and/or xrandr (or 3rd party drivers), or are they merely descriptive terms that have fallen into common use? I often see threads in forums where significant effort is exerted by the posters on a thread just trying to make sure they are talking about the same thing.

Cheers,

Evo2.
