I can now longer hear Audacity when it plays a clip

Hello all.

I have been using audactiy for a while. Yesterday I installed wine so that I could use ventrilo client.

I could hear on ventrilo, but I could get the speach to work. After fidling with settings in vetrilo and wine configuration, I no longer can hear ventrilo sound, audacity sound, sample sound from the sound detection application.

All sound channels in KMix are at full and I can hear sound being produced by pandora (website that has a flash imbeded radio station) just fine.

What can I do to get sound working again, at the very least, for audacity. I'm willing to remove wine & ventrilo to get audacity working again.

any help will be appreciated.
