HELLO
i tried many time to install gnome 2.8.2 but i can't do it, i download all package for it, and all the package required ,How can i install it?
it is boring to install every package invidually.
It does take a long time to compile though. Imagine Windows was only a kernel and command prompt, and you had to take the source code for Explorer, IE, WMP and all the other numerous add-ons and compile it. That is sort of the same idea. If you want Gnome 2.8.2, try Ubuntu Warty Live or install Ubuntu.
Just been thinking, if you are using Slack, you can install dropline gnome. I don't use GNOME on Slack, but you may want to check Slackware Current coz it may have newer GNOME packages. I have compiled GNOME on Slack quite a few times and even though it can be a long procedure, I enjoyed doing it.
