hydrogen and starting the OSS driver
I am trying to get the drum synth program Hydrogen to work and I'm having a terrible time with the OSS driver.
First of all, I can run XMMS fine and my audio is fine. Hydrogen uses OSS and /dev/dsp... i've checked permissions and they are good. I keep getting this message in regards to the OSS driver when the program initializes :
ERROR_IOCTL: unable to set BlockSize
Error starting audio driver
I have OSS compiled into the 2.4 kernel. I have tried ALSA but have met with nothing but disaster... but this SHOULD work fine with OSS anyway. I dont *think* I have any other programs running that could lay claim to /dev/dsp before Hydrogen... Should I be running a sound daemon like ESD, ASD, or Artsd anyway?
Any help would be appreciated.
