I'm posting this here for other people's reference as I had a fair bit of difficulty tracking this problem down and finding a solution. If anyone has a more elegant fix, feel free to reply.
Fedora Core 2
httpd (Apache) fails to start, issues the following error message:
_default_ VirtualHost overlap on port 443, the first has precedence
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down.
It's to do with the SSL module. In my case, it was because I had multiple "Listen" directives to bind Apache to specific network interfaces:
From memory, other people had problems with multiple virtual-server entries.
Disable SLL (i.e. rename "/etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf") as it's overkill for home-network use, or remove one of the "listen" directives.
