HTTP webcam streaming

I am looking for a way to stream video from my webcam live over the network. I am aware of the solutions that are out there already and I have tried them to no avail. I have tried motion and it took too long to load in the web browser. I don't like VLC because the command line won't accept my string for streaming the web cam. And I have no idea how to get the ffserver command or where to find it to install. I really need help with this one. I am not a fan of motion because you need something to move in order for it to capture something. I want a constant video feed (because I am not storing it anywhere I just want it to feed over the network. And I don't want delays in the feed).

You might be able to set that up with Zoneminder if you have enough bandwidth. Their page is at the link below.

If you're looking for pure streaming with no additional bollocks then try out mjpg_streamer. I use it in my diy-style ip cameras (router + webcam) to stream the video over LAN.

It was a simple fix, Not exactly a smooth stream but it beats what I was getting earlier. I looked up the specs to my camera (Gigaware 1.3 Mps) and found that the max was 30 Fps. I configured motion to capture just that and the picture appeared to move at a smother pace with any skips in the moving of an object.
