I theory you should be able to just load an html page and 'save as' whatever format you like. Have you tried saving as different versions of .doc?

if you have to, use export to save the html as a OO writer (sxw), then re-open it and save as doc.
However, consider exporting to pdf instead, since doc is a proprietary mz format and non-mz users may have problems opening it.

.txt files with the alignment and all that stuff isn't a horrid option. It works for basic documents. But I wouldn't use that unless what you're writing is really trivial.

thanks all. well, i have my document (my resume) in .txt, .pdf, .ps, .html.
now i sent alllll those formats (they all work fine), and the guys at careerservices said they cant open them, and want me to send it in word's .doc format. since, i cant argue with them on this or make any comments about their skills at opening a pdf file, i decided to just make it into .doc. i myself dont use MS for anything other than a SETL IDE which is only because I havent been able to get it working in unix.

well, i had already done the OOffice thingie where i save a .sxw, then .doc. it doesnt come out right (the formattings all messed up).

finally i got hold of a machine which has word on it. i typed everything in ... and well, i hope those guys at careerservices can open and see that (with the formatting).

thanks anyway to yall.
