Question hplip installation error

Hi,
I'm no linux buff and -being fed up with windoze- I installed FeistyFawn on my "oldish" Celeron III 800Mhz, 512 RAM machine. Everything went smooth as butter and I'm a really happy camper with ubuntu....except for the HP drivers installation (hplip). Every time time I try to install via Synaptic I get this cryptic: "E: hplip: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1"

Every time my machine updates the system on line I get the same message.
Funny is that the print system eventually does work!
I have two questions:
1. should I ignore this message and carry on as if nothing happens (since printer works alright)
2. should I try to uninstall hplip altogether? (i tried re-installing it but no joy)
anyone had similar problems? I'd be grateful for any info....

Could be a bug in that release. Have you tried installing the source file of HPLIP. It will check to see if you everything required for HPLIP to run. Might read docs on HPLIP site and check requirements and see if you meet them.

Tks Brian,
I really think I tried everything a newbie can possibly do...
Tried uninstalling it, tried reinstalling it. I downloaded it from the web all over again....
All I get is the same error message! Funny thing is that my HP deskjet functions just the same.
So I said, what the heck, it might just stay as is.
Perhaps when the G.G.7.10 version is out and available for updating F.F.7.04 distros, it might -just might- iron out the bug
Mind you, all other pluses are more than enough to overshadow the ONLY bug ubuntu has had so far under my use!
