hp-setup and network printer or hpcups and system-config-printer
 

Hi

I have (little) trouble in setting up my network printer (hp officejet pro k8600dn).
I'm using gentoo 64bit (actual build) and I am able to setup a printer using the web interface of cups...

If I use system-config-printer-gnome I got an error message in the end that hpcups is missing... which is in /usr/libexec/cups/filter

If I try to setup up my printer with hp-setup I can only configure usb and parport printers...

Here are my install-options
net-print/cups-1.3.11-r4 USE="X acl dbus java jpeg ldap pam perl png ppds python samba ssl tiff -avahi -gnutls -kerberos -php -slp -static -xinetd -zeroconf"
app-admin/system-config-printer-gnome-1.2.2 USE="gnome-keyring"
net-print/hplip-3.10.9-r1 USE="X hpcups libnotify parport policykit qt4 snmp -doc -fax -hpijs -kde -minimal -scanner -static-ppds -udev-acl"

does anybody know how to fix both (hpcups in system-config-printer and network-printer in hp-setup)?

Do you have hplip-cups fully installed?

thanks for your reply. In gentoo there is no package hplip-cups (or I can find none). There is only a package hplip which could be compiled including hpcups (which I did - i think since there is a file hpcups)

This is how it is configured:
