HowTo install rpms from CD
I've recently migrated to Fedora 7, installed from the Live CD, transfered to my hard drive.
I also downloaded the DVD-i386.iso (2.8GB), which by the way, didn't want to install from. I've copied the whole 2GB CD to a directroy on my hard drive. I've got three questions: 1) I would like to install new software with the Package Manager, but before downloading from the Internet, it must first check whether its on the DVD (the directory). 2) How do I configure yum to do the same - first check local repository, then download. The structure of the directory is exactly that of the DVD /fedora /images /isolinux /repodata /stylesheet-images ... and some files 3) Is there a gui-yum? Regards |
Point your favorite browser at www.google.com/linux, and search for "yum sources" without quotes. You will turn up articles on setting up yum repositories. Perhaps one of them answers the question about checking the cd/dvd first.
