Howto install realplayer11gold bin file

Hi, im running fedora9 & i jus downloaded realplayer11gold, its a bin file how do i install it, plse help

If you use Fedora, you should download the rpm version. It should be on the same page although you have to look carefully.

Once you have the rpm, install it from the terminal as root with:
rpm -ivh file_name.rpm

The bin version can be installed too but has a number of drawbacks (e.g. it is more difficult to uninstall than the rpm version). The procedure is:
chmod +x file_name.bin
and then as root:
./file_name.bin

After installing the RealPlayer RPM, make sure you install compat-libstdc+-33 using yum because RealPlayer needs it and its not usually installed by default.
