I'm dashed if I can get Google Calendar to sync with
Outlook 2003 then Evolution then Thunderbird Lightning.
QUESTION: Can anyone help me sort this out?

Why all three desktop applications?
I want one calendar that is the ungarbaged word about what I'm doing.
Google Calendar does what I need and is web available.
At work, we use Outlook 2003.
At home, I use Lightning on dual boot because it runs on both
win-dose and ubuntu linux.
PDAs and SmartPhones sync with Outlook and Evolution better
than they sync with any of the other desktop PIM (personal
information manager.)
I'd like to use Evolution on dual boot once the win32 edition
is finally available.

As a result, my project involves getting Google Calendar to sync
with Outlook 2003 and Evolution for now.

Smartphones sync with Google Calender. Everything with Microsoft Exchange support syncs with Google Calendar, which would include Outlook (I would assume)

What I want is:

• people do smart phone tasks and calendars and contacts and notes
• sync phone to personal workstation
• sync workstation to common google calendar

Now everyone knows about everyone else plans and availability.

I don't have an Exchange server. I've thought to try that open source exchange work-a-like, but that effort is for another day. I have MY linux tablets, MY work Outlook (& company whatever that I have little control over) and family's win-dose boxen. I want mine and family smart phones to sync with their workstations. I want all of these workstations to sync with Google Calendar(s) so that we all know what is going on. I'll get rid of Outlook everything when I have either Evolution (linux and win-dose) or Tbird Lightning (linux and win-dose).

Google Sync is a feature that I use.

So basically you can use everything.

Currently, I have one Google Calendar, one Gmail email account, and try to do the following:

• add events to Outlook 2003 calendar on win-dose.
• "google sync" win-dose to Google
• view the calendar on the web ... typically with Firefox
• add-change-delete events on the web
• "google sync" Google to Evolution on linux

I've try to run "google sync". Most often I get various "sync failed" errors and have not had much luck sorting that out.

I've never actually used Outlook, so I wouldn't know.

If you follow the instructions I posted for Evolution you should be fine
