I just want to use postfix and vm-pop3d replace sendmail and imap, first I want to use real system users , but the help document of vm-pop3d does not mention it ,so I don't know how to do it, does anyone give me some advice?
the outlook always told me that password is error thanks |
I have read the FAQ ,it told me that I should use the information of the file vm-pop3d.pamd to create file /etc/pam.d/vm-pop3d , I did it with the advice ,but it still getting login error ,what can I do? help

Do you have any other processes listening to the pop3 port?
I'm not too familiar with the vm-pop3d, but with the virtual mail setups i've seen you need to create a single 'real' user and then virtual users under the 'real' home. How are you logging in? |
I think there are no other applications to listen to the port 110, because I have uninstalled the imap , but I don't know what you mean , I just used the system real users in mail system , I used the outlook to send and receive letter , the outlook told me that logined error ,password was error

The fact that you removed the IMAP server doesn't do much for your new pop server as the IMAP listens on 143. What protocol are you telling LookOut to use to cennect to your mail server?

FWIW, wouldn't it be logical to actually post your vm-pop3d config, PAM configuration and errors instead of *talking* about 'em? |
can you say it in detail and use some simple English ? 3ks

Please post your: - configuration options you used at compile time for vm-pop3d, - configuration file for vm-pop3d (including xinetd stuff), - PAM configuration file for vm-pop3d, - errors, preferably from the logfile. |
