how to use JDK in linux

Hi,

I am using redhat linux 9 on the AMD machine, but I am not able to use java enavled wesites on the machine.
I know that we require JDK insgalled for it and I also did it but then it asks for some confugration which I DO NOT KNOW
is their something like we do in microsoft windows i.e we just run a patch and rest is dome by itself
Can someone please help me with this

Linux is not windows, so you got to learn to do stuff the Linux way. How did you install java, was it from the *bin file or from the rpm. Also what web browser are you using?

i tried do the with the rpm file from java site
can you please provide me direct path and the easy way
i user mozilla as web browser
