1. Get kernel.

2. Build kernel.

3. Add new kernel to your grub options.

4. Reboot and select the kernel you want.

5. See if everything works OK.

6. Rinse and repeat.

Hi paulsm4 (Senior Member),

Thanks for your quick replay...
BUT

I am new in linux so I expected kernel compiling simple steps.
Somehow I find how to upgrade Ubuntu 10.4 kernel to 2.6.34.
Here are the steps which may be helpful for other Newbie.
Ref Site:
http://www.ramoonus.nl/2010/05/linux...u-linux-10-04/
Download following packages from about site:
linux-headers-2.6.34-020634_2.6.34-020634_all.deb
I386: linux-headers-2.6.34-020634-generic_2.6.34-020634_i386.deb
I386: linux-image-2.6.34-020634-generic_2.6.34-020634_i386.deb

Copy all three packages in one folder (newkernel) and install it with dpkg –i command
After it run #update-grub and reboot and check kernel version (uname –a )

for red hat 5.5
1) pay red hat for access to RHN
2) run yum update

centOS 5.5
1) run yum update

fedora 11
YOU DO NOT
fedora 11 is End Of Life
you install fedora 13
then run
yum update

( but ONLY if you do not have a legacy nvidia card 173 ,96 )
