How to update the 'locate' command

Hi Guys (have stopped saying hi to ladies coz I think there is none on this forum )

Whenever I run locate on my machine it complains that the database is more than 8 days old. I read the manual for locate but could not find a way to update it.

Any ideas

Thankx in advance...

There's a few.

'updatedb' as root.

-- Or 'slocate -u' now that I look at the man pages again. Admittedly, it does say 'create' the database, but there ya go.
