how to uninstall the gcc3.2.2 in redhat

how to uninstall the gcc compiler 3.2.2 from redhat

i want to downgrade the gcc compiler from gcc3.2.2 to gcc2.95.3 for my application its built in freebsd gcc2.95.3 for that same project should be run in redhat9 but basic gcc3.2.2 in redhat i need to downgrade it

can any one tell me how to uninstall the gcc compiler ....

hi,
as many applications depend on gcc, it is illadvisable to downgrade.Anyhow u can do by

rpm -e --nodeps gcc
then get u desired version from rpmfind.net and install it

its ok . i have the option for gcc compiler 3.2.2 and 2.96 compiler in redhat the default compiler is 3.2.2 . i need to compile in the 2.96.

can any one tell about this

hi,
do u mean u got both the compilers versions installed!Does it show you any conflicts before installation?
Are u having the second gcc in any non standard paths like /opt etc.(build from source like that stuff).Then u shall use the alternatives command to use the gcc u prefer.

as per you first post u need the version
