Sometimes solutions exist, sometime they don't. Forums such as this one are very important for sharing knowledge. A future upgrade to either the TV or KODI may eventually resolve the problem. It was a learning experience. Thanks.

Sorry again. I'll try to play with it if I get some free time.

KODI/XBMC has always struck me as cluttered in terms of how it manages tasks.

A raspberry pi (Rpi) would help make this possible
Set it up with kodi and it can use the other kodi as a "server".
For live streaming you may want to get the mpeg-2 codec unlocked

If you want to "integrate" it with the smart tv, use some duct tape

Given:
  1. A KODI tutorial shows it casting to a Samsung TV. So KODI can cast from a personal computer to certain smart TVs.
  2. YouTube can cast to the Vizio TV
  3. Plex Media Player can cast to the Vizio TV.
  4. The absence of a positive response from someone who has KODI installed on a personal computer who has successfully cast content to a Vizio smart TV.

Therefore:
I conclude that KODI is apparently missing a module of some sort that would allow it to cast content to a Vizio smart TV.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Vizio TV can access content on a personal computer that has KODI installed through DLNA. But that is not the same as "casting".

The new model Vizio computers now have a chromecast app. So I "lost-out" on that upgrade.
Evidently some models of the Vizio smart TV actually include KODI, but mine does not. Recently, I stumbled across this video;
VIZIO TV Streaming Internet and apps. My TV does not have access to the same apps shown in the vidio.

In reviewing many of the Kodi internet tutorials, live streaming (such as a live news program) from a PC to a smart TV appears to be sidestepped, as the emphasis is on live streaming from an Android device. So far, I have not found a work-around for a desktop PC.

Additional notes:
1. I can stream YouTube content from the Linux desktop computer to the smart TV.
2. I can remotely access files stored within the Kodi media player that are located on the PC from the smart TV.

Has anyone been able to configure Kodi to stream (cast) live content from a desktop Linux PC to a smart TV?
You can use 1channel primewire addon via Kodi. Just install it & start streaming.

Perhaps, this guide might be useful for you.

I am using BeeTV with Kodi

I have been using the kodi app since few months since it is having the best kodi builds and in all of them, beetv is the one plugin that kodi app must have in all android phones.
