How to Specify Running Time of a Background Process in a Bash Script
2016-01-03
I am interested in knowing how to specify the amount of time I want a background program to run in a bash script. As an example, I would like to tell cvlc to play only the first minute of an mp3 file and bash to terminate the script afterwards. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Julianvb |
Hi, Everyone,
This thread of mine was accidentally posted before I could edit and finalize it. Now I've no control over it. How can I delete it? I've just solved the problem under consideration by using the run-time and play-and-exit options of VLC. Julianvb |

You can edit it. Go to the first post and hit the edit button. Edit, hit "save", or "post" and ta da. And/or use the "Thread Tools" drop-down menu near the top of the opening post. Mark thread as Solved... or similar. |
Habitual,
Thanks very much. With your advice, I finally managed to clean up my initial post, via 'Go Advanced'. Julianvb |
