how to set up a proxy server? (noobie question)

I couldn't find a good tutorial on how to set one up, and I was hoping someone here could help.
I was wondering if anyone here has set up a web proxy server on dedicated Slackware server with the 2.22.0 kernel.
I heard about squid, is that what I should use?
I'm not looking for ad-blocking or anything like that. Just something real basic.

Thanks.

Yeah use squid. It's nice and pretty easy.

The conf file has a million comments which make it easier
