how to run kde

i recently installed SuSE 8.2 profesional edition and it would start up fine, it would boot and give you a little dialog to type your username and pass and tell it what window manager to use.

but know for some reson it goes into verbose mode or somthing, where you can only type comands and such, i still want to use a window manager though, and i cant fidure out how to start up kde again, i tried logging in and typing kde but it siad it cant start up the x server

also before this i was trying to install some nvidia drivers and it told me to disalbe the xserver, how do you do this?

thanks oin advance to any help on either of the questions and sorry about any spelling errors

you have to configure your X windows with xf86config. it will ask you several question.
to start your x windows, type startx
if you choose correctly configuration, then you can start using x windows now.
