Use the linux cfdisk utility. Run cfdisk as root from a console. If you are familiar with DOS fdisk you'll have no problem with cfdisk. When done, reboot and the changes will be done.

i need something that i can copy to a floppy and use after ive booted the box with dos boot disk, is that possible? basically when i try to do it with fdisk, it shows a 69% use by an non dos drive but when you try to delete it says cannot delete while logical dos drives exist in the extended dos partion..even tho there isnt any.

From the existing DOS:

format a: /u
sys a:
copy c:\dos\fdisk* a:\*

Cheers,

I have a WinMe boot disk with a few of the extras removed and I put the executable for Ranish on it. Comes in handy for a lot of things like making or deleting partitions, copy disk or partition, zero the drive....

Sebastian - I'm a bit confused about exactly what you mean. If you need a bootable floppy disk that has a disk partitioning utility - Tinkster has it dead on. But your first post says the dos fdisk utility spouts off errors.
Can you boot to any operating system without the use of a floppy?
If so which one(s).

dirty30exsb -
Yes there will be a cfdisk command in Knoppix, though you don't use it to remove lilo. If lilo was installed to the MBR just boot with a win98 floppy rescue disk and use the fdisk /mbr command

or
a Win2000 CD and use the recovery console.

ok forget the fdisk error thing cuz that was confusing sorry, i can boot to win98 fine, i have two HD i had previously loaded linux on the second HD but i was now trying to remove the linux partion from the second HD and repartion and format it for use in Win98 i thought i could simply boot with a win98 boot disk and delete the linux partions from FDISK however fdisk wasnt feeling up to the job, so what i did was do the fdisk /mbr like you guys said which allowed me to boot into win98 but i still couldnt get rid of the old linux partion so i figured since lilo was gone i could fool the linux installer for a bit, i inserted the mandrake install CD rebooted and booted into the linux installer i then went into the drive partioner that comes with the installer erased the second drive leaving it blank with no partion information clicked done so it could save the deletion and restarted, its important you restart at this point continuing further in the installer will write linux partions to the drive.

So i am done my second drive is being formated as i type this, thnx for the help.
