How to recompile glibc ?

I did (on redhat 9):
tar jxvf glibc-x.y.z.tar.bz2
mkdir buildglibc
cd /buildglibc
../glibc-x.y.z/configure --enable-add-ons=linuxthreads --prefix=/usr/local/sbin
make

and at the begin of making an error occurs saying that "... configure. in: ... command not found ... "

Has anybody successfully recompiled glibc? please tell some details?

What command isn't found?

I would look at the linux from scratch project for more info on what is needed to build glibc.

Yes, I've compiled it. What you did looks right, except you don't say whether you downloaded linuxthreads, too (if that's still separate). Maybe that's what it can't find.
