Question How to play rmvb files with Mplayer

Hi
I can't play .rmvb files with my Mplayer.
I have downloaded codecs (all-20060611.tar.bz2) and put them in /usr/lib/mplayer/codec (I created the codec folder by my self)
I have read in a coupe of places that the codecs should be putted in /usr/lid/win32/codec bur I cant find anything named win32.

Does someone no were to put the codecs to make it work? and should there be a win32 folder in /usr/lib/ ?

HAve you installed any addtional codecs?
If not they go in /usr/lib/win32. If win32 does not exist then create one.
Go here and get addtional codec packages. Extract them in win32. Should work once you add the rp9 codecs. http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/

I did as you told me but it still doesn't work.

Did you install the all-essentials codecs from the link as well?
That seems to be the package the file drvc.so is in.

It works!!! :-)
I created the folder /usr/lib/codecs/ and put the files, from the folder essential-20060611/ , directly in it.
First I tried to just put the folder essential-20060611/ in /usr/lib/codecs/ bur that didn't work.
Thanks for all help!

Hello! I am a newbie and I need some help playing rmvb files with Mplayer. I install Mplayer using urpmi and it plays ok but whenever I play rmvb files, an error ¨cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x30345652¨ appears.
I´ve visited the mplayerhq website
and downloaded the ff:
win32codecs-essential-20040703.tar.bz2
win32codecs-20040703.tar.bz2
rp9codecs-win32-20050115.tar.bz2
essential-ppc-20051120.tar.bz2
essential-20060611.tar.bz2
essential-20060501.tar.bz2
and saved it in my folder and extracted it there, then I created win32 directory in /usr/lib/ with mkdir command then extracted it also there, I started Mplayer but it still did not play my rmvb files. What should I do?
Do I need to install all the codecs in the mplayerhq website? Do I need to ./configure the files?
