argh, that .dat file is ment for stupid windows systems , if you want to play VCD using mplayer, try:

mplayer -vcd 1

where 1 is the vcd track you want to play.

FAQ: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/cd-dvd.html#vcd

Anyone knows how to use gmplayer to play VCD with .dat file? Currently, I can use "mplayer -vcd 1" to play movies but I want more features with gmplayer. However, gmplayer does not seem to see .dat as a vcd file. Appreciate any advice.

Just found it by right clicking on the window and use VCD to submenu ... so on. Sorry about the confusion. However, I can do fast forward or rewind. Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance.
