How to open Access files in Base

Distro - OpenSuse 10.2

I am trying to open an MS-Access file (version may be 2000) in Base but nothing is showing when the file is opened. Neither the tables nor the forms, nothing. In Kexi I am getting the message ...

"Import failed ... No appropriate migration driver found "

This file is opening correctly in Access. I tried ODBC driver setup also. But there is nothing found in ODBC driver selection.

Please suggest how should I open it. Please advise step by step as I am not an advanced user.

Google is your friend...I used "access files open office" and got several promising hits.

Thanks for the link. Though my problem seems to be there. The guide was mainly for windows. I tried the "Creating a Data Source within OOo" section. But here again the problem remains that in Tool-Options-OpenOffice Base-Database-New section there is no option to choose ODBC. It is only asking for Database file name and Registered name.

ODBC is a Windows only technology as is Access

I think you are out of luck here. ODBC is as far as I know a windows only technology. If you try to get access to an MS Access database, you could try to run OOo under the Windows emulator WINE.

Or you can try drivers like these

Thanks for your suggestions. I will check them surely.

I had to use Windows this time to get the job done. In the meantime I found OO has released 2.2, in which they have added some more features in Base. So I will try my luck with OO 2.2 first. Thanks again for the help.
