how to open a downloaded video on firefox using kaffeine or xine


how can I make firefox open a video that I download using kaffeine or xine as opposed to automatically opening it up in a new tab that doesnt have any menus?

I have suse linux 9.1 and the latest version of firefox web browser

have you put the necessary plugins in to the plugins directory of firefox?

edit: I think I misunderstood; try in the Preferences panel --> Downloads --> File types.
You can specify an extension there, and a default app to open it with...

I went to edit - preferences-clicked on plugins and then I dont know how to tell it to use kaffeine or xine to open videos. Whenever I press the plugins button it shows me what plugins but I dont know what to do from there.

try this firefox extension "MediaPlayerConnectivity" that lets you use any mediaplayer with it

Thanks, the media connectivity plugin is just what I had in mind!
