How to open .7z files

ive been searching for a compression tool that will run on my mandrake 10 linux and didnt find anything working or running on my OS. I dont know what can i do. All files i got i think is for windows only.
Whenver i run my 7z file, a "OPEN WITH" dialogue pops up!!

Please help me, i tried for 2 hours figuring my problem.

Ps.Any programmer here who havespare time wanna help me on my project at school concerning creating program for record views tabular forms using xml/xsl and netbeans at linux OS. Any kind of help will do since i havent tried using linux and i honestly admit that its just now that I heard about xml/xsl and netbeans. My instructor wont help us or even introduce anything on our project . I've downloaded netbeans but i dont know what shall i do about it.
email me at john0908@gmail.com

one more thing, the 7z file is an example program of our instructor, but he wouldn't tell us what compression tool to use. I successfully opened this at winXP using winRAR, but on linux, it only gave me HEADACHE!
Thanx in ADVANCE!!!

First you cant open exe files in linux , there are programs that let u do that like WINE but they just work with some programs

if u want to open 7-zip files with linux then use p7zip

http://p7zip.sourceforge.net/

I installed the package p7zip. I have two binaries, 7z and 7za. What is the difference? Which one should I use?
