how to modify the file naming pattern (%s~) of backups

hi,
Anyone have any idea how to modify the naming system of file backups?

usually it is with "~" appended to the filename.

But, i want it to be prepended by "." and then appended by "~" so that it becomes

.filename~

The whole idea is to hide the backup files.

can anyone help onthis?

I beleive this is a must for linux desktops, as with me, i tend to work with more files, and sometimes, i work on the backup files by mistake

thank you,
LintoWinWin

That is a feature of the editor you are using; not a feature of Linux.

For example, using Kwrite.
Click on Settings, Configure Editor.
Then click on Open/Save.
At the bottom of the screen, there are options to set prefix and suffix on backup files.

Other editors probably have something similar.
