how to minimize gaim to taskbar

hey there,
i accidentaly removed the gaim taskbar applet and can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back in KDE. i tried restarting KDE, right click -> add panel , but there is no gaim applet. is there a command line option for this or a config file i can change??
i'm using FC3 btw
thanks,
disorderly

open gaim
go to: Preferences/Plugins
recheck the System Tray icon option

yep i tried that but it didn't do anything

merize147 02-15-2005 09:03 PM

Does it still auto load or is the whole package hosed?

disorderly 02-15-2005 09:45 PM

not sure what you mean by auto load - i can start gaim and chat over IM. i even tried removing it using yum and reinstalled it but still no icon :(

while your still logged in try downing your network connection and see if the auto-Reconnect works. if it doesn't work either than the install might be shot.

If I remeber correctly gaim is installed as apart of the standard install, try using redhats package manager to uninstall / reinstall.

aha ok i'll give that a shot when i get home from work today
thank you for your input by the way merize147

wow i don't know if i should even admit this but hell there might be someone else as stupid as me - after uninstalling/reinstalling gaim in kde, gnome, using both yum and up2date and editing the *.desktop preference files i started messing around with the panels thinking this must be a KDE issue/preference. yep. all i had to do was remove the system tray, then add it back and voila - i had 7 instances of gaim running.
no better way to learn something than to fark it up then have to fix it ;)
