Yes, there is . You need to install w32codecs. In Mandrake it is an rpm.
Must be the same in your distro. These are non-free. You may have to add
some extra source in your updating sources.

http://www.mplayerhq.hu

go to downloads and grab the essential codecs package. next ( as root):

mkdir /usr/lib/win32
tar xvfjp essential-xxxxxxx -C /usr/lib/win32

that's it.

Hi. I tried and didn't work. Then I remembered that somewhere I read that Mandrake uses slightly different "paths" and dependencies than other linux distros (I don't know actually what I am talking about, maybe bullshit, sorry If I make mistakes but this i what I understood), so I tried to unpack it in /usr/share/win32 instead.

IT WORKED!!!

Sorry. I corect what I had said. The fact is, my kaffeine can play (now I realize) wmv up to version 8, and cannot play wmv version 9. Unpacking essential-xxxxxxx didn't change that in either directory I tried to put them. Anybody can tell me where I must put these codecs in Mandrake?

Sorry
