how to make splash screen

theres lots of nice splash screens on kde-look.org...but i wanna make my own...

does anyone know how its done??

the various splash screens are located in /opt/kde/share/apps/ksplash.

I made a few custom ones by simply copying an existing one and then trading/manipulating the images.

what....it is that simple? just change icons and modify/create images? is there no need for a .theme file or anything?

Well, there is a theme file, which I've not messed with much. but you can get a good idea how things work by studying the ones already there (or ones you'v d/l'ed from kde-look).
Code:

jeff@rwharch:~$ ls -l /opt/kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Default/
total 216
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 75733 2004-01-17 05:48 Preview.png
-rw-r--r--  1 root root  737 2003-04-10 01:48 Theme.rc
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root  4096 2004-06-10 13:19 locolor/
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 25509 2004-01-17 05:48 splash_active_bar.png
-rw-r--r--  1 root root  204 2003-03-28 11:54 splash_bottom.png
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 13909 2004-01-17 05:48 splash_inactive_bar.png
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 77571 2004-01-17 05:48 splash_top.png
jeff@rwharch:~$ cat /opt/kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Default/Theme.rc
