How to make fluxbox look sweet?
Hey I want my fluxbox to look cool, well i was looking though my questions and i clicked on this guys link to a screen shot
http://www.inkblotweb.com/current-screenshot.html And it looks sweet how do i get my fluxbox stuff to look so good e.g. transperant aterm , concole to be apart of the backround etc etc. My fluxbox looks so boring grey etc, anyway can someone help me make fluxbox look the part that would be sweet. p.s. how do you open folders in the termanil e.g. what is the command lol this sounds dum but i havent ha anyuse for opening folders till now. |
I don't use flux in kde terminal you go to settings> schema> and play around with that you can choose diff colours, transparency levels etc.
Opening what kind of files? |
I dont care about kde i only install it to keep my out of trouble when i get stuck in flux and to use some of its programs(ill still make it transparent in kde now cheers) Any fluxbox gurus out there.

first, you need the develpment version of fluxbox (current 0.99) for being able to use those cools themes with pixmaps,
download some themes from fluxmod.dk install aterm or eterm for transparent console, set menu alpha on fluxbox to something lower than 170 Enjoy :) |
I've seen that SS before around here. Does anybody know what File Manager he's using?
|
The file manager is rox and it can also be used to draw the desktop wallpaper and put icons on desktop. you can also use rox to put a panel on the desktop. here is a shot of my fluxbox using rox to do this.

Console as part of te background: I guess this would either be root-tail or a terminal with transparency and no borders. |
I use fluxbox with eterm which has transparicy (sp) settings for a terminal, xmms with brushed metal opera with silver/white
All togeather, I kind of like it |
aterm is pretty easy to make trsnsparent, just edit your menu file and put the following line in:
[exec] (aterm) {aterm -tr -trsb -sh 60 fg white} -tr makes it transparent, -trsb gives you a transparent scrollbar, sh 60 will shade the transparency to 60% & fg white gives you white text. Thats just the way i use it obviously you can tweak it however you want just typ aterm --help for all the options. however, i do have a question if anyone knows, how can you make a borderless window in blackbox/fluxbox/openbox anyone have any ideas? this i think is what the origional poster was after finding out too ... to make the console a part of the background. |
Hey Sandman, what's the program you have on the right with the bird-heads and music note?
|
Wow, i just installed rox right now and i love it!! I was used to use konqueror, but it always takes a lot of time to load and rox is soo fast, almost instantly!
I really recommend it ! :D Btw, how can i change the icons?? I like the ones that come with rox, but it would be nice also to put some others. I'm using fluxbox 0.9.9 Thanks |
