how to make a screenshoot of login screen

I would like to know is there a way to take a screenshot of my screen, but while only in console mode.

I started ZipSlack (a console only version of Slackware 9.0) on a Win98 box, i.e. on a FAT32 partition, and would like to have one image of the login screen. I would like to have a screenshoot of the Midnight Commander and of "Blue Screen of Death", too.

So I ask: "Is there a console program which could take a screenshot of the screen?" I assume the procedure would be something like pressing the PrintScreen button and then transfering from RAM into some program and making a picture. But which program?

Or is there any better way?

Please, if you know the answer email me on cobe011@myrealbox.com.

All the best
