How to login in local linux machine with kerberos authentication

I am using RHEL5 as server & Fedora14 & centos 6 as clients. I need configure Kerberos authentication for client machine local login. Now I am using NIS for this kind of authentication. But I don't like to use NIS. I felt NIS not secure. I try to configure Kerberos using whatever documents available in the net. But its not working. Only think is working when did kinit in the client machine & as well as server also.

Please help me install kerberos authentication for linux machine local login ( as like NIS). Please provide the step by step details
