Who teaches Linux? What book to buy? (Already read LINUX UNLEASHED). Where to go now Master?

Use it to develop software.

Use it to peruse the internet.

Use it to write "The Great (insert country of origin) Novel".

Use it to keep track of personal finances.

Use it play music into your ears, and video into your eyes.

Use it to edit photos.

slightly pretentious answr... but yeah i'd go along with that. just do stuff. books are handy, as is http://tldp.org but without some idea of what you want to achieve a book isn't really that much more use. you just teach yourself.

I can wholeheartedly recommend "The complete Unix Reference" from Osbourne's (ISBN 0-07-211892).

As its name suggests it is not specific to linux, but has not let me down yet. Should cost about £30 in the UK or $40 stateside.

O'Reilly do a book "Running Linux" which I did NOT find that useful as a newbie.

I believe Red hat are doing certification, but I have no idea about costs.

You're right, acid_kewpie, but I see so many folks apparently doing nothing but playing with Linux configurations and calling themselves Linux users. I've learned more from using Linux in everyday situations than I ever did in academic tweaking exercises

! Yes, having some books and other resources at hand are important for those learning opportunities, but a simple question is best answered with a simple solution.

Linux is a very powerful OS, but only if it's used
