How to Install some 3rd party tools in linux?


How to Install some thirdParty tools in Linux(both RPM & tar formats)?...like VLC player,nero borning tools etc..

i suggest you read up on some standard documentation for installing software, such as out tutorial section, or any general online of printed beginers linux manual.

I already knew basics about to install applications...

My question is ,I downloaded tarball format as well as src code format...and installed also...

after that I got some error..and iI don't know how to access that application..

can pls explain simple example like how to install VLC player and access that one...

pls to need ful..

as above, you need to read existing documentation for how to install software in a given format. it seldom matters what the software is, just the format it's in, e.g. rpm, tar.gz... each have their own way to install them which is generic in the main. please check out http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/ among other places
