Redhat EL 5 ? CentOS5 ? Either install the el5 sysstat package :
sysstat-7.0.2-3.el5_5.1.x86_64.rpm

Or rebuild the source code sysstat-5.0.5-25.el4.src.rpm
if you really think, the old version 5.0.5 is required.

A genuine el4 is available too: sysstat-5.0.5-25.el4.x86_64.rpm

Glibc (libc6*) is your OS (together with the kernel), and cannot be changed.
( EL5 has glibc-2.5 ).
