How to install a VPS / where to find it (Virtual Private Server)

For the use of my server I want to test out VPS but I am looking for a good, free downloadable / usabel VPS. (VPS = Virtual Private Server)

I am running Slackware 10.0 by the way on kernel 2.4.26

And is there anyone with experiance with these things ??
