how to initiate a remote session?

The question is: How can a remote session be initiated?

There are two linux systems on a network, both running a late release. I would like to initiate a complete new session on system A from system B.

(I know about starting a terminal session and exporting display. that works for a single app. I would like to initiate a complete session.)

Thanks - Dan

You could use VNC. Depending what distribution you're using, you may have packages for it already. If not, have a look at http://www.tightvnc.com/ to see if it's the sort of thing you want to do.
