how to increase the speed of my cam photo shots ?

I am writing a program that takes pictures and compare them together. i am done with that part but my problem is how to decrease the time between each photo shot.
i am using gcc compiler

Change the settings in your program, optimize it, or get a camera with better speed.

Since you don't post any examples of your code, say what hardware you're using, how the camera is plugged in, or anything about which Linux you're using, it's impossible to give anything but a generic answer.
