how to increase screen resolution

Hi everyone, I just have one question regarding how to increase screen resolution in my Linux Box.
It runs XFCE 4.8 with Linux 3.7 inside a Dell Inspiron 3520.
Right now, my resolution is 1366x768, and I'm trying to get it to have more.
Anybody have any idea?
Thank you in advance!

Hi,

low resolution is usually caused by using a generic video driver instead of one specificallyl for your hardware. So, what video hardware do you have and what distro (including version) are you using? The output of the following two commands should answer these questions.

Code:
lspci | grep -i vga
lsb_release --all
Evo2.

Thank you for your reply!

The "lspci | grep -i vga" command gave me this output:
Code:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
While the "lsb_release --all" command:
Code:
LSB Version:	1.4
Distributor ID:	arch
Description:	Arch Linux
Release:	rolling
Codename:	n/a
According to "lsmod" command, the driver module for my Intel graphic card (i915) is already loaded. I do not understand much about graphic driver for Linux, so excuse my insensitivity for this.

Once again, I say thank you!

So I have checked and found out with every way I can think of that the maximum screen resolution is 1366x768 for this Linux.
I know it can do more

Find out what the max resolution is for the laptop. I'm guessing that is the max it can go. You can't magically get higher resolution. There are only a set number of pixels.

From what I'm finding on google 1366x768 is the max resolution of that laptop.

it won't let me edit my posts for some reason. i suppose you might be able to try upscaling? but I don't know how that would work if it's even possible.
