Could you give more detail about your problem? For example, do you have Windows installed on your hard drive but can't get it to boot, or are you having trouble installing Windows?

Yea, hirens boot cd didn't work.
I was able to use fedora live cd
and do this
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=521 count=1
http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/red...a-machine.html

that got rid of grub

but windows still won't boot

I had windows on my hard drive once n now I can only get rhel6 and fedora 14 on.
ubuntu doesn't work and centos 5 also doesn't work.
hazard boots but it don't work, another acpi error

I got da insydeh20 bios does anyone know how to break into it. so I can turn acpi on.
n thanx for the patience n help

Windows 7 disk could've repaired, also if you didn't have a wins7 recovery disk you could've downloaded recovery console.
Hiren's & gparted have testdisk you can try recovery. You can check with gparted and see if your hidden recovery is still there.

In the Windows recovery console

fixboot c:

fixmbr c:

This will do it.

In both cases you are warned but go ahead. If you are unsure, insert a Linux Live Disk reboot and check out what to do on the Internet.

What fixboot and fixmbr will do is give a new boot sector and wipe out Grub and let you boot into Windows. You can then use SuperGrub to automatically install a new Grub start and boot up.

if you need to reinstall windows
1) the windows dvd 's DO NOT SEE non MICROSOFT partitions
a drive that is formated to ext4 for fedora 14 will toss an error for Microsoft dvd

2)use gparted or any other partition editor and format the drive to NTFS
3)then install Windows

Nice reply John VV I forgot that gparted will also format to NTFS. gparted is an excellent live cd choice to do the job.

I think that he's got to delete/unallocate the partition first then format to NTFS. Whatever he's got to do installing Windows whichever and a Linux distro will take time but will solve the problem once and for all.
