How to get amarok to play mp3 files

Hi there,

I know that this question has been asked several times on this website, and I've read just about all of them. And... I've done just about everything that was suggested, but to no avail. I'm using KDE 3.5.5 and amaroK 1.4.3, and I just can't get it to play MP3's. As a matter of fact, I can't get any music player to play MP3's, including Kaffiene, juK, and XMMS. Please help.

Much appreciated,
PlainDave

Do you have lame installed? you might have to enable the non-free repos to get it but that should do it.

As mentioned lame is what ya need. May want to check that out plus other media libraries to handle various media files if you haven't already.

Amarok MP3's

In Amarok you go Playlist at the top of the app. and then Add Media and then click on the folder that your mp3's are in and then highlight all the songs and this should auto input them to Amarok
