How to enter execute mode..?

hello friends...

as i know there are three mode for linux...

user mode, command mode, and execute mode.....?

anyone tell me how to enter in each mode and how to quit from each mode....?

ultimately my gol is following..

i m working in vi editor right...
now i have open one file namely "for.c".....

now Being in the file "for.c" , i wanna go to some other file which is present in your directory

give me complete command for that,,
pls help me ....

Are you talking about vi modes? Those have nothing to do with Linux. If you want to edit another file in vi or Vim, try hitting the escape key, then :e to open another file for editing.
