How to DIVX


Wanna know how to get DIVX movies working on linux!
I mean what all I need and how to get it and if possible some help cos Im still a lesser newbie

mplayer can play divx movies, I am in the process of installing it now

xine also has no trouble with Divx, not to mention that it handles Xvid better than anything I can find on Windows.

Ohh yea, and are these tp players similar to BSPLAYER?

Yes, though most likely in the package you install they will already be included.
BTW, Mandrake 9.1 comes with both of those programs IIRC.

I don't use BSPlayer, so it's hard for me to say. Here are the feature lists so you can compare.

for newbie: go to freshrpms.net and get the apt package. then:
apt-get update
apt-get install mplayer

If you can hopeless and want a simple way, get the ffmepg package and run ffplay. Not as good as mplayer but it still work.
