oh sorry then I wrote that wrong cos the files are there and not a /boot folder.
think I used 'rsync -a /boot /mnt/1/'
I first used the one with a trailing slash but I checked the destination folder and saw the error, so I changed the command and got it right.
I just googled a bit on that _map15_ thing, seems that it's obsolete and a long time ago too. The page was from in 2003.
someone had to change the /etc/sysconfig/i18n file.
So I'll try that and see if I can remove it or something.

Found that the grub.conf was using UUID for the disk and since I changed it, I figured it can't be the same, so I put /dev/sda2 instead
Next errors was lots of thing relating to that UUID so I now I have no clue what to do.
I can't sit here and go through all files relating to this UUID, that will take too much time.

The only files were an UUID will be mentioned should be your grub config file and /etc/fstab.

Yep that was it, changed it and it all was working OK.
I didn't think of this since another server I got here DO show the UUID in 'df -h' but this server doesn't.

Thanks for all your help
