How to create start tomcat icon on kde desktop?

Hi there,

I've just downloaded and configured Tomcat 5.0.25. I can start/stop it from a console.

But now I'm trying to create a desktop icon for it on KDE 3.2. The properties of the icon read as: '/usr/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.25/bin/startup.sh'. However, for some reason Tomcat is not started up because I cannot see anything on localhost:8080. What do I have to modify to make this desktop shortcut work?

Thanks,
Peter

application icon

if i understand your questions i think you are asking to create a shortcut to an application

you can right click on your desktop and select

create new> file>link to application

point to the correction application and choose your icon

hopefully that helped.

Well, I know how to create a link to an application -- that's exactly what I did. I did right click > new > link to application, and then on the application tab I pointed to '/usr/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.25/bin/startup.sh'. The problem is that I'm not sure that startup.sh is executable this way. I know it is executable when I'm inside /usr/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.25/bin and I issue a ./startup.sh command.

Why would it not execute the icon way?
