How to create custom install CD (updated rpms, kickstart, etc.)?

I want to create a customized linux installation CD (based off Fedora) so I can fit the entire install on one CDR and save time on system configuration/updates as right now I have to swap 4 CDs during the install, run apt to update the OS after the install, then configure the various OS options/settings. The CD will be used on the multiple systems with the same basic hardware configuration.

My objectives:
-Trim off packages I don't need so install fits on 1 CD
-Replace old RPMs with updated RPMs
-Install will follow kickstart config on the CD for automated install
-Run a script at end to configure services, firewall, edit files: smb.cfg, html.conf, inittab, etc with my settings.

BTW, I also have a few tar.gz files which need to be compiled and installed (make, make install). Will adding that to this install be difficult? One of these files is the netword card driver (e1000).

Can someone give me some pointers on how I can get started and what I'll need to do? Thanks alot for any help.

Just network install using Kickstart

I actually need a physical CD as the installs are going to be done offsite.

Arodef,

Did you ever figure out how to do this? I tried to email you but the site says you have email disabled.

I am searching for the same info on creating a custom boot cd

Thank you

Nope I gave up. Here are some links which you could find useful though:

Your best bet is to ask on the redhat kickstart mailing list:
