how to create a iso9660 fs?

hi,

i want to distribute flash drives at this convention next month, but i also want to create a read-only section of the drive so i can store company information, and it won't be deleted by the user?

how could i accomplish this?

What has this got to do with iso9660?

Unless you have a customized USB stick (firmware prevents modifications to MBR partition table or writes to PartitionX, or PartitionX is actually ROM) there is really no way to prevent people from just removing a partition they don't want.

When I was in college, the local Open Source and Standards Advocates Club passed out usb keys with various linux distros on them (for a miniscule fee to cover the cost of the hardware itself). Not surprisingly, most people purchased one, wiped it clean, and put their homework on it.

Annoying, yes, but it's a fact of life.

yes, i understand there's not really much i can do, but my boss has some naive thinking that this will help business, yeah

as for the iso9660 part, i have seen a jumpdrive with an iso fs on it and i couldn't format and destroy it.
maybe i just didn't try hard enough, but i don't think the average person that gets one of our jumpdrives is going to know how to wipe a jumpdrive

but im still open to any possible ideas

anything is ok, i have the time to try it

thanks!

It's the proprietary U3 technology you're thinking of. As far as I know, there's no open way to replicate this, as it's all patent-encumbered.
